TIMEFRAME
Hello & Welcome!
In order to help you prepare for TIMEFRAME we’ve put together a list of things to do, bring and think about. Please keep this page bookmarked so you can refer to it as we progress through the workshop.
Opening Weekend at Cromford Mills
TIMEFRAME opens at the Gothic Warehhouse, Cromford Mills on Sat and Sun 3 /4 th May. The weekend will be busy and inspiring, with participants contributing to the programme in a range of ways including discussions, sharing of work and short presentations.
Preparation
You are each invited to introduce the group to a photographer, or an image or series of images, whose work intersects in some way with the theme of time. Of course there are many ways to think about time and photography and we encourage you to tackle this in any way that appeals to you.
Presentations will be relaxed and informal and will last a maximum of 10 minutes. You may show a powerpoint presentation, use jpg files, printed material or any other form of presentation that supports your idea.
For anyone unfamiliar with presenting to a group, please do not panic, your presentations are not designed to be a test or to be stressful. Usually, once participants have started researching and putting something together they find that it is actually rather enjoyable.
There really are no right or wrong ways to engage with this, but if you are worried at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a helpful chat (contact details at the bottom of this page).
Please do time your talk before you come, presentations often take longer than anticipated and we have to fit everyone into the scheduled time slot.
Arrival & Departure
Gothic Warehouse is positioned directly opposite Cromford Mills on Mill Road. Please note that googlemaps refers to the Gothic Warehouse as Wharf Shed. The warehouse entrance is situated at the end of the canal and will be clearly signposted.
To ensure that we are fully prepared for your arrival, and ready to begin on time, it would help us enormously to welcome you between 9.20 and 9.30.
Please do not arrive before 9.20 am, it’s not that we don’t love you, just that we have limited time to set up the space and prepare for the workshop. Coffee and biscuits will be served on your arrival .
Both days will finish at 16.30.
Getting Here
Car parking is available at both Cromford Mills and Cromford Wharf sites and costs £7 for 8 hours. But if you park just a few yards along Mill Road at Cromford Meadows Car Park (see map below) the cost is just £4 for 24 hours. You can pay using Ringo or by cash.
A small amount of free on street car parking is available but it really is minimal and in high demand.
There is a regular train service between Derby and Matlock which stops at Cromford. The trains are operated by East Midlands Trains and Cromford station is just a 10 mins walk from the mills.
Refreshments
Tea / coffee & biscuits will be provided at intervals throughout the day, please let me know if you require dairy / gluten free or vegan options.
There are two cafes on site where lunches can be purchased, alternately you may want to bring a packed lunch.
